When is the best time to trek in Nepal?+

• Spring (March to May) and Autumn (October to November) are the peak seasons. • Spring brings warm weather and blooming rhododendron forests. • Autumn offers stable weather, dry trails, and clear mountain views.

Do I need a guide for trekking in Nepal?+

• Yes, solo trekking is banned on major routes. • You must hire a licensed guide for your safety and compliance with local rules.

What is the difficulty level of trekking?+

• Difficulty varies by route and altitude. • Short beginner treks like the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek require basic fitness. • Advanced routes like the Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit require good physical stamina and proper acclimatization.

What kind of food and accommodation are available?+

You will stay in local tea houses or lodges along the trails. • Meals typically include traditional items like Dal Bhat (lentils and rice), noodles, and momos. • Accommodations become more basic as you climb higher in altitude.

What permits do I need for trekking?+

• Most popular regions require a Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card. • You also need specific National Park or Conservation Area permits depending on your destination

What will I eat and drink?+

Teahouses serve local and international dishes like dal bhat (rice and lentils), momos, noodles, and pasta. Treat or filter all tap water, as it is unsafe to drink directly.

Do I need a visa to enter Nepal?+

Most foreign nationals can obtain a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for fees ranging from $25 (15 days) to $100 (90 days)

Is drinking water safe on the trail?+

Tap water is unsafe. You should use treated, filtered, or boiled water, or carry purification tablets/drops along with a reusable bottle

What type of mobile and internet connectivity is there?+

Local SIM cards from NTC or NCELL work in lower regions, but NTC generally offers better coverage in the mountains. Teahouses often charge a small fee for Wi-Fi.

How heavy should my backpack be?+

If you hire a porter, their load limit is usually 20kg to 25kg total (shared or individual) If carrying your own daypack, keep it light around 5kg to 8kg

What clothes and gear are essential?+

Layering is key. Bring thermal base layers, a fleece jacket, a windproof/waterproof outer shell, a high-quality down jacket, sturdy broken-in boots, and a sleeping bag rated for sub-zero temperatures
